Rear O2 Sensor Install
My CEL came on so went to AZ and the code was for my rear O2 sensor. Well get home and it was a little hesistant to come off so put some WD40 and had dinner then went back at it, came right off. Now to thread the new one on isn't going good. I've checked the part# with AZ and it seems to be the right one. Is there any tips/tricks to get it on? It seems to catch then after a few turns comes lose. I hope it isn't cross threaded but I don't know what else it could be.

Are the threads the same on the new and the old? If so.....
Now I'm not sure so keep that in mind. Those threads might be the same as the large size sparkplugs I've seen on some Fords. If you could get your hands on a thread chacing tool for one of those it might work to clean yours up.

Same thing happened to me when I installed my rear O2 sensor. I had no tap or chaser to clean the threads. I took the old sensor and cleaned the threads real good and lubed them with a little WD-40 and grease mix. Then i ran it in and out a few times to clean the threads until it went in and out falrly easy. Then I cleaned carefully around the bung with carb cleaner so I wouldn't contaminate the new O2 sensor. The new sensor has a small amount of special thread lube/sealer on the threads, no need to lube the new one, which might contaminate your new sensor. The new sensor went in easy after this procedure.

Hey Great! So that did it. Well done, and thanks for getting back.
Knuckelbuster..Cool. A trick also is to use the corner of a regular file, or a tri file and make a few grooves angled near the end of something a little boogered up. If you can keep it straight sometimes that helps on something not supper critical.
