Default Broken Driveshaft

Well the shaft may still be good I broke 3 of the 4 bolts that hold the U-Joint on to the rearend yoke. The bolts are snapped off in it and I don't think I'll be able to EZ-Out them how much does a new yoke, u joint, and the shaft may be bent so how much would that run me too?

Drive shaft and yokes can both be had at the junk yard for cheap. Then all ya need are new straps and ujoints and you are set.

I work at a heavy duty truck parts place where we repair and/or build drive shafts so if you can get to a junkyard it will definitely be cheaper to buy one that way...Shaft may still be good since it came apart at one of the weak points....The bigger question before you go and replace it is why did all the bolts break off?

I sheared all 4 heads off of the bolts to my u-joint straps when it was flexed and bound up. I was hard on the throttle and the driveshaft spun violently under the Jeep when the u-joint came apart. I had to drill out all 4 bolts and retap the holes for a larger bolt. This also required me to drill the holes in the replacement straps larger and reduce their strength by having less surface area for the bolts to secure. This is of course all a temporarry fix until I can find a replacement yoke for a Chryco 8.25.

If I drill and tap them like that with the larger bolt would that be fine for everyday driving. Needless to say the one good trip down the strip today was my jeeps last. Also my jeep is being set up for show not off roading or anything.

It will be fine for regular street use. I have been driving mine for several weeks after snapping the bolts and retapping the yoke. Have had no issues so far and I hammer the gas everytime I take off from a redlight. I'm just waiting until I find a good replacement before I punish it offroad again.
