Exclamation Breaks lock up when cold

hey guys. I'm new to this forum but not new to the forum world. I've searched and came up empty.

When the breaks are cold they lock up. It doesn't matter if I'm driving at normal street speeds or pulling a three point turn on my residential street or in a parking lot. I inspected the rotors and pads and all seem good. I even bought new rotors and pads to change everything but once I got a good look and matched everything up it all looked identical so I returned all the new parts.

What would cause this? Any positive feed back it greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

EDIT: by cold im talking Southern California cold, not Green Bay cold this started happening towards the end of summer so I'm not taking the weather in to account for this problem.

my rear brakes like to lock up on me first thing in the mornings. if i pump them a few times before i take off, it prevents it from happening. i haven't had a chance to go find out why it's doing this.

that would lead me to believe it could be the master cylinder or calipers :/

yeah the rear drums can lock up. if the locking up is quick and jerks its from the rear. I have an axle seal that is shot on the passenger side and that 1 is always locking up!! i know I need to replace that... but I'd check your rears for sure.

you will be able to feel where its locking. Ever ride a bike and squeeze the front? its most of your stopping power and you can feel yourself about to tip if you do it too hard, but if you lock up rear wheel you will do fishtail skidouts, same thing with the car, the front brakes stopping will be really abrupt and u will wanna fall forward, the rears will do the same with a much less falling effect. And the drums you can hear, you hear that BANG in the rear

does it do it the whole trip?

Usually it does it once or twice than goes away thats why no one bothers to do nothin about it.

rainy days its a lock out of reverse from the driveway, and than one more lock at the stop sign a couple yards down than its done with that nonsense

I had that happen at a stop sign in my old subdivision so bad the rears locked and the guy in front of his garage gave me a nasty stare, like I was roasting the tires or something

I just had my rear brakes redone - EVERYTHING replaced.

Man the BANG was horrendous, sound and sometimes felt like I hit something and there was nothing on the road.

Took it to a shop, they pulled the wheels and I told them what to do....

Wheel Cylinders
Shoes
Hardware
Drums

The hold nine yards.

I am happy now .... no more BANGING! ( least not under the jeep in the rear )
