Default Breaking Valve Springs.

I am a new Jeep owner and am starting to develop a bad taste for this one. I bought a 88 Cherokee. I took it to a mechanic and had it checked out. Aside from a track bar that needed replacing, it was in great shape.

Starting about 4 months ago it broke a valve spring. Then a month later it broke another. Then just this past Saturday it broke yet another. We are going to have the one repaired because we dont have the money to fix the remaining 9.

Why is this happening? Send me your ideas.

Thanx!!

My guess is that it has overheated in the past and the valve springs have become brittle. You will eventually need to replace them all.

I agree with Blue, unless 4.0L's are over heated they don't normally break valve springs..
