I have a 90 limited xj and it has abs anyway my break light is on in my in dash lights and I have to push the breaks as hard as I can to stop and there used to be a chirping noise when I started it up and hit the break any ideas?

I'll bet something in your BRAKE system is bad, like the ABS controller.

Mine does something similar. The brake pump/motor under the coolant bottle will not turn on some times and the brake light in the dash will come on. The pump/motor is what pressurizes the system. Does your pump/motor turn on? The chirping noise you hear can be that pump too.

Check the power brake booster. Does it have vacuum?
When you pull the vacuum line out of the booster is it holding vacuum?
IF not, check the valve in the vacuum line, you should only be able to blow one way through it.
Without it you have to REALLY push the pedal hard to get it to stop.
As to the light, could be low on fluid.

Yea it's the pump motor cause that chirping was the motor screaming for help and it just finally died, luckily there is this little shop within walking distance that all they do is rebuild old parts like that cause for the dealer to get me one just for the part is 1,400 I paid 1,500 for the xj itself so I'll be back off the road real soon lmao
