I was driving today, and the brakes on my '92 (no ABS) just died. I can push the pedal all the way down, and nothing really happens. No locking, very little deceleration. Master cylinder is divided into 2 compartments, only one has any fluid in it. (I'm the kind of idiot who has this kind of thing happen regularly). So do I need to bleed the whole system before putting in new fluid?

I'd check to see where it's leaking out before I started filling it back up

And once you fix that, yes u will need to bleed.

Just happened to me friday. Rear hardline blew right before it turns to a soft line. Pedal went to the floor but I still had rear brakes

That sucks. Common issue with the rear lines blowing. Find where it's leaking and fix it. Bleed and bleed and bleed till its firm enough for you

Way easier to find a failure on a pressure check parked at home then at 70 on the freeway! Reminds me, I should give mine a good stomp.

And yea. Look for radial spin our lines on the inside of the rear wheels. (as well). Might be a wheel cylinder.
