Already replaced one caliper on account it locked up already once before... Any comments, tips, help?

Don't know much about drum brakes but if the front is lockup, you might just need to greased up the calipers bolts and make sure the pads are not seized to the bracket.

You gotta' pay to play. One thing I have learned, I now hate mud... it wreaks havoc on everything under a vehicle. Dirt, mud grit, whatever ends up in the rear brakes. It builds up on the brake shoes and related hardware, basically causing everything to stick.

I had an old bronco that I mudded, and everytime I had to work on it, I spent about 30 minutes or so beating the dirt and other stuff off the truck. That way it didn't end up in my eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and anyother places imagineable.

Anyway to make a point, I would have to take the rear brakes apart and clean them. Always makes sure you use a water-resistant brake lube like sil-glyde and coat the springs, the adjuster and where the shoes contact the backing plate. Properly adjusted brakes make a huge difference also.

The jeep is a 2000 yeah mudding is starting to get my nerves also. There isnt one clean spot under my car. But in sfl there really isn't much else to do besides hopping over curbs lol. I think I'm just gonna adjust my drum brakes, check the fronts, and wash and wax the old xj thanks for the tips everyone.

That's correct and if it's ceased you need to replace it. And yeah the star wheel.. I just suggested these Things because it's probably a good idea to check everything

Rear brakes - the adjustment slot is supposed to have a rubber plug in the slot. Mud and water gets in there.
Parts houses have them $1.

Discs are self cleaning, drums aren't.
