I have a 2000 xj. how do i know what size my drum brakes are in the back? there are 10" and 9"

 

They might say on them.

 

if you have the d35, it's 9 inch.
if you have the 8.25, it's the 10 inch.

 

How do you figure that?
I have a 98 with 8.25 that has 9 inch drums. A 99 with the D35 that has 9 inch drums and a 2000 with the 8.25 with 9 inch drums.
About the only ones that came with the 10 inch drums from my research is the D44.
Another easy way to tell is if the drums are ribbed or not . No ribs on the 9 inch. Ribs on the 10 inch

 

My 99 has the 8.25 with 9". Does your drum have "fins" on the outside of it, or is it smooth? Smooth is 9", finned is 10".

 

i knew the d44 had the 10 inch, that's what i have, and the old d35 had 9 inch.
my apologies, i only assumed cause it's come up in conversation before, and i thought that was the conclusion.

so there you have it. both d35 and 8.25 has 9 inch drums and d44 has 10 inch.
