mechanic wants $400 to replace my brakes and machine my rotors? no thanks. more fun to do it myself. unfortunatly ive never changed the brake pads one a cherokee, just small cars, and i havent ever changed out a rotor. i hears its easy but if anyone has a video link, or some tips on what i might need etc that would be awsome
get a nice dead blow hammer. my rotors were rusted to the hub and needed a few good hits and they came right off. Its really simple. i just did my GFs in about 45 mins. undo the caliper pull old pads out, compress the piston with a clamp put new pads on. put new rotors on then the caliper. If you've done brakes before nothing out of the norm on the XJs

Or just use a turkey baster to remove some fluid before you start so that it doesn't spill over.
