Default Brake pads

Ok, stupid question

I was out getting the jeep dirty the other day and was noticing a grinding when I put the brakes on. this of course was after I was stuck up to my bumper in a mud hole

Pulled the wheels and everything was dirty as crap. I noticed one of the retaining clips on a brake pad was mangled. It is no longer able to hold the pad in. When the caliper is on the rotor it seems fine.

This thing is my DD, how big of a deal is the retaining clip being jacked??

I work at a Chrysler dealership and have seen 4 or 5 vehicles come in missing retainers. We always highly recommend that the owners replace it. If you don't, just hope you don't have to really get into the breaks, when it rains it pours. It obviously held up until they came into the shop, but just saying you never know what will happen and running down the highway to work with no breaks would definitely **** my day up, lol.

^^ I agree brake pads are what like 20 bucks? Is that worth more than the life of the person you kill?

crap oggy, if you put it like that, then I dont think I have a choice. I am having visions of those old drivers ed movies.

I was going to pick up a new set anyway. Upon closer inspection the pad material looked like I jacked em up as well, thankfully the rotors look ok. I already have the front of the jeep apart to clean and lube it.

Of course these pad are only a few thousand miles old, Oh well
