That's for a different kind of brake light switch. You don't have a plunger.

Well, maybe you do but it's next to the commode.

So there's 2 types of brakelight switches? I have the one exactly like in the pics on the previous page of this thread so how do I adjust it? Google is only bringing up the one that you just pull to adjust, nothing about this one.

So the brakelight switch is "functioning" just not adjusted. To pick up the extra slack between the rod and cam a wedged a #2 screwdriver in it, it works. So for now ill just ziptie the screwdriver to the bra!kepedal arm to get me down the road till I find out how to adjust it lol!

As far as I remember there is no adjusting it. I had the same problem on my 90 and I had to replace it with a new one. It eventually fail also, so after that I took a lil metal plate(I believe it holds the other switch you mentioned) and welded a small piece of sheet metal hanging down. To these metal piece I drilled a hole in line with the brake pedal and installed a brake light switch from an 80's Chevy(I ordered it for an 84 El Camino). It has worked like a charm ever since. Sorry I have no pics to show you what I'm talking about right now. I'll look for some tomorrow and post them when I do. Hope this helps

Does a 1998 Jeep Cherokee sport use a standard brake light switch or is it specific to the vehicle?
