brake idiot light is on after installing new rear brakes
Last weekend I changed the rear brakes on my 92 cherokee, the brake light was not on before that and it was metal to metal. After putting new brakes on the light is stuck on. Any Ideas? It doesn't bother me that much just curious.

There is nothing to reset so don't bother disconnecting your battery.
Was the pedal soft before you replaced the rear shoes. Did you top off the brake fluid reservoir, Did you check to make sure you don't have the brake shoes reversed causing increaced pedal travel. Also those fluid level sensors tend to get stuck in the bottom of the master reservoir...lightly tap the side of the master to free it from the bottom. One more thing with the key in on and engine off, pull up the parking brake lever , if the light becomes brigther then your level sensor is stuck or you have air in the system from a leaking wheel cylinder, if not brighter then your parking brake light switch is broken or shorted.

Thanks for the help as always
Unhooked the wire, light was still on.
The pedal was good before the brake change, soft now.
No I did not top off the fluid, it was and is still full.
I am about 99.9% sure shoes are on right, I did one side at a time, using other for reference.
The ebrake light was no brighter.
I never bleed them when I did the change, will do that tomorrow. Will try the tapping of the MC as well.
