Both Rear Windows don't work.
I've searched this, and came up with nothing, so sorry if it has been asked already.
Since I bought my 1997 XJ Country a few months ago, I've known that both rear windows don't work. The problem is now the next thing on the list to fix. I can't seem to find the cause though. I have done the obvious, and the window lock button is not on. I've checked the fuses, and I guess the next thing would be to pull the door panel off.
I just find it odd that both the rear windows don't work, and the front windows are fine.
Has anyone encountered this problem before?

I posted today about both my passanger side windows not working and I took the three screws out of driverside switch panel. Then I pulled all the switches apart and put them back together and they work great now. To pull the switches apart after you unplug them you kind of push it to the side until it pops off but be careful and look how the copper tabs are because you have to put them back the same way or they will not work. I hope this helps bud.

Thats how mine were. None of the switches worked. I cleaned the switches on the driverside door and put everything back together and it worked great after that. I would try that first.

If that doesnt work check down where the wires come through the hole by the fuse block and make sure none of them are broken. I had the same problem and I wound up having a few wires that were broken. Spliced and now all windows and door locks work correctly!!

Ok, so I just took the door panels off. I started with the driver side door. I took out the switch panel, but was unable to get it apart. So I put it all back in and now the driver side, rear door makes a clicking sound when you try to roll down the window, and the lights flicker. The passenger side, rear door still makes no noise or anything.
I looked at all the wires around the motors and nothing was split or broke. What should I check next?

Ok mine did this to so I think you on the right track. You need to get the switches apart and clean them. Did you get the wires unplugged? If you did you should have like 4 or 6 little metal clips on the holding the actual switches in to the trim. Mine worked until I changed the trim piece. Then it did this to both windows it made a noise and dimmed the lights but no movement. Then I took it all back apart and cleaned the connectors and they work great now. Correction I need to do this to my lock switch its acting up a little. Be sure to keep the little metal clips holding the switches in or you switches will be pushed into the door. Hope this helps.

I've provided a link to a picture of the switch panel in my XJ below. I can't see how you guys are talking about taking it apart to get to the contacts. I've watched guides on doing it in older model XJ's, but nothing in the newer style 1997 XJ's.

For some reason I was thinking your Xj was the same year as mine but its a 97 and the switches are not the same. I would suggest picking up a set from a junk yard and hopefully that will fix it. Sorry
Its cool. I was thinking about looking for one in a junk yard too, or maybe it would be worth it for a new one?
