Pulled my transmission inspection plate and found a bolt laying in the bell housing. Hope someone can identify it before I pull my transmission only to realize its something stupid. 2000 xj 4.0 AW4

 

Any chance it takes a 10 or 11mm socket?
I would have to dig out my old ones but my first guess is a CPS bolt.
Happens every once in awhile when you replace the CPS.
You drop one of the 2 bolts down in there.
Especially if you are missing the little cover.

 

So the specs for a CPS bolt are M7x1.00x25 and it does use an 11mm socket.

Maybe this info will help.

 

Now that you say that, I think that could be exactly it. Been a while since I had to change one on my old jeep. Didn't even think about it.
