Boggs and stalls when I get too deep??
Finally got my XJ's front axle rebuilt so I took it onto the lake thats overflowing into my buddys drive way. Its was perfect chuggin along, but once the water got about even with the bottom of the door it starts breakin up and stalls. Once i get out it fires right up and its fine.. So I know the crank position sensor is down there and that may be the culprit I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas? Help me out please

that could quite possibly be the problem. the best advice i can give is not to take it into any water that deep until youve completely sealed up all electronics. the cps is lower than most of the elec. components and if it gets wet or anything i can imagine it will make the jeep stall. i just replaced mine because of stalling issues, runs great no stalling now.

Be patient. Lots of people are at work and may respond later. I would assume that if the CPS gad gotten wet your engine wouldn't have re-started right away. Maybe the water covering the exhaust pipe caused the stalling?

Sorry to hear about that.
I've always been told to keep the RPMs up when you have to go through water that might/will cover the tail pipe. I don't want to take that chance. JMO

I do try and keep the rpms up, it just chokes out and sputters that what made me thinnk it was electrical.. I'm going to climb under it today and check for and electrical connections and seal em up I was just wondering it this was common. Now you have me thinkin it might be the exhaust... I stops befor the rear axle right after the second cat. Gotta get it running good before I do exhaust, but that sounds like It could have something to do with my issue

The CPS is actually closer to the top of your Bellhousing. A little bit higher than the bottom of the door. What is at that level is your alternator. You might take a look at it and the wiring around it. Maybe something is shorting out when you submerge it.
