Default Blue Vacuum Hose

Any idea where it goes?
It was located under the coolant bottle but don't see anywhere
to plug it in...

It would help much if you'd tell us what year (and, in this case, transfer case as well.)

It looks like the vent line on the vacuum harness for all of the RENIX rigs I've had with the NP231 transfer case - there is a vacuum shift motor on the Pax front axle tube, and it requires a vent line. Since it's possible that it will be under water, the vent line is run up into the engine bay (well off the ground,) and that little disc on the end of the line is a vent "filter" to keep other crud out of it as well.

You'll probably follow it back and find it ends up bundled with (I think...) red, white, and yellow Nylon vacuum lines as well - same size as that one.

That blue vacuum line is the vent line for your front axle disco. If you plug it up, the 4WD will quit working. My son and I learned this lesson the hard way on his 87.

Yes that is correct. It is a vent and not a vacuum line. As 5-90 says it shoukd emminate from a bundle of similar multicolored lines

5-90 the members have a drop down section under their avatar for essential Jeep data. That frees them from having to explain each time they ask a question. The OP and I both have 90s but his has a 231 and I have a 242.

There should be a check valve/filter on the end of it. I replaced mine, and my 4wd light stays on better under hard throttle.

True, but what if it's someone like me with several rigs? Thou Shalt Never Assume (even though the damned City made me pare down to my 88 and the 1990 I've got to clear off and cut up. And, I'm hoping to be able to pick up a 1974 J20 sometime soon - I've got a good lead, and we're negotiating.)

It's just a lot easier to put all of that in the post.

Hey so I have an 89 with the same vacuum lines, but underneath the car near the starter, the lines change into solid aluminum tubes, and they just kind of sit open underneath. Are they supposed to be connected? This may sound confusing. I'll try to get pics up a bit later. (only 3 aluminum lines)

Those aluminum lines are there because aluminum is more durable than Nylon - thus working to eliminate a PPF - Point of Potential Failure. I've pulled that harness, and I can probably dig one up and take a picture of it in a day or so...

Oh, That black disk looking thing is actually a check valve and/or filter. You will notice if you take it off. I didn't realize that and stuck a nail through it to plug the line. So, I had to replace it. The one on the jeep said Ford on it though. I got a new one from the dealer for a couple bucks.

These pics show what I'm talking about. It seems weird that this just sort of hangs there, like there should be some more hoses connected to this. Where do they go if there are?

(you can see the corner of the starter in the second pic on the right side)

Looks like you lost the "soft lines" at the end somewhere - they go from that "hardline harness" to the CAD actuator on the Pax axle tube.
