ic how would that plate snap or crack as every one thinks i wish u could hear this thing when its runnin sounds like a ak 47 times 10

How it cracks? Most likely caused by heat cycles and mechanical stresses or a defect in the flex plate. Some crack some don't...some catastrophically fail where the flex plate turns into 2 pieces.

Your motor is blown. Pull it and replace or rebuild it.

I'm pretty sure the piston return springs are going bad. Pretty common on 97-01 Xj's with that mileage. Is yours the Canadian GT model?

Things dont jsut roll around your oil pan. That would mean somethin would have to be broken off from somewhere in which case it shouldnt be running. It may be a rod bearing or something. Id pull the pan and see what you find.

Pull the oil pan and SEE what is banging around. Crap can fall down the oil return holes in the head and make a he(( of a racket!
