Default Blown Heater Fuse

Every time I open my passenger door and the HVAC is set on defrost mode it blows the 30amp fuse. It's starting to become really annoying when I forget to take it off defrost before opening my door. I'm wondering what could cause this. Maybe a short in the door? But the only wiring going to that door is for the speaker. It has manual locks, manual window, etc. Anyone have any ideas?

Certainly sounds like you have a short somewhere. It might not be in the door itself. Could be something related to the interior lights when the door is opened, could be a bad connection on a switch that is supposed to turn the lights on and off when door is opened/closed. Hard to say really. Could be the wires on the doors speakers maybe causing a short somewhere. Shorts and things like this are a real pita to diagnose, my '86 Comanche had a weird short that only happened at random while driving that caused the headlights to stop working. Never did manage to track it down before I sold it.

welcome, and help us to help you!!

o all users of CF:

PLEASE, before posting technical questions, take some time to help others out, by adding details in the user control panel. There's 2 ways to do this. First, in the upper left corner on the front page of the site, is a menu button labeled UserCP.

After you click on that you'll see this menu:

Please take the time to click on the highlighted sections and fill out the vehicle information for your vehicle. The signature link is also helpful for any additional information like mods done, links to your build or other vehicles owned.

This helps EVERYONE out by informing them immediately about your year, make, model, etc.

These details are necessary for responders to accurately answer your questions without guessing or having to ask what are the specifics of the vehicle you are referring to. You can add these details easily and permanently by creating a signature or adding your truck details to your existing signature.

5 minutes of your time doing this now will save a ton of time and effort later.

Thanks!!!
