Blow motor not getting power
Ok so my blower motor stopped working the other day. I'm not getting power to the motor, resistor or vent controls. I check all fuses and they all seem to be good( not exactly sure which one is for the blower motor) I'm pretty stumped at this point and could use some suggestions

same thing on my 99 before. i just went under the hood and pushed the wire for the connector around and it got power. i know it's redneck, but it worked. no problems since.
but your motor could be dead too. not too bad to change, it's a little harder with a/c. you need to pull the pressure tank thingy to gain access.

Does the connector to the blower motor get power?
My blower stopped working and it turned out that one side of the connector had not been properly lined up the last time it was connected and got pushed out the back of the connector. So the terminals inside the connector were just kind of sitting on top of the blower terminals. Two years later it had wiggled enough with engine vibration to lose connection completely.

#5 fuse (30 Amp) on the fuse panel under the driver's side dash, marked BLOWER, powers all those things you mention.

Have you always had the problem you described or did it just start?
I don't have a '96 FSM so I'm just going by '95 FSM data. You may have fuses in your PDC to cover these circuits that are inop.
Stick a 30 Amp fuse in that #5 slot and see what happens - have a fire extinguisher handy. ;-)

freegdr,
Where did you get that diagram? It shows the blower fuse at #4 slot. My '95 XJ blower diagram shows #5 slot. See diagrams below.
The '97 HVAC control is completely different than the '96 and prior HVAC control system.
Here's the HVAC mode selector for AC control. Note the 12YL/BR wire going to splice 213 (8W-42-3). This goes to the blower diagram (heater only).

.
Here's the Heater Only blower control diagram but it's the same for AC/Heater. See splice 213.
