I was debating putting in a block heater considering the harsh wisconsin tempetures, it cranks pretty slow when the temp is below zero and takes awhile to warm up, i just have no idea what kinda one to put in, i heard some people who bought a magnetic heater and put it on the oil pan but also heard those were no good
You could swap your mechanical fan for an electric one that only comes on at 185. That would allow the engine to warm up quicker. Use a thinner weight oil next change to speed up cold cranking. You could do something cool/custom like wire a switch to force your EGR open to allow hot exhaust to return to the intake, or tap your intake with a metal pipe, that would pick up air over the hot exhaust like some carburetors use. Just brainstorming. Thread a glow plug into your oil pan or intake track!!

a block heater is a great idea.... when your jeep was new it was a option .... as long as you have somewhere plug it inI would get one... it reduces warm up times for sure... the oneJeep used from the factory is the freeze out plug type and is the only one I would recomend...

the magnetic one is cool, but the one that works as a freeze plug is the one I would use. Or you could use both if you are parking outside, but any block heater is better than none.

Well if the body is in good shape it is worth pulling a motor out of another xj to throw into your current one... Put a motor on the stand do a refresh and add a block heater to the new motor
