My understanding is that the Shin-Etsu grease is basically silicone grease, which is much cheaper.
I buy it in 1lb tubs for about $20, and use it for everything - door seals, plastic trim etc.
It lasts really well.
I even covered all the faded plastic trim lining the cargo area of my XJ with it, and they look so much better.

@gomnbvcx No stickiness at all, once it's wiped off. I leave it to soak in for a long time, then wipe off later - I find it lasts longer that way. From what I read a while back, silicone grease is basically the same as Shin-Etsu grease, and some of the companies that recommend Shin-Etsu suggest that silicone can be used in its place.
