Hello everybody,

Does anyone know of a modification that can be made to the Power Window Wiring for my 89’ XJ to get my windows to roll up and down with some more pep in their step ? I have done the Greg Smith mod for the Power Windows by addidng the two relays to the the passenger side kick panel wiring, and it works great. Was hopeful there was something similar for the windows.

I found one related article but I couldn’t understand the concept, also I believe the article was combining the relays for the Power Locks to the Power Windows but wasn’t sure.

I’m by no means an electrician but was able to get the Greg Smith mod done so I am confident I can get the Power Windows sorted out, with some proper guidance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

To give your XJ windows more pep, upgrade the wiring like you did with Greg Smith's mod run a fresh 10-12ga power wire (fused) straight from the battery to a new relay, triggered by the factory switch. Don’t forget a solid ground wire from the motors to the body. Lube the tracks with Shin-Etsu grease while you're in there. If that doesn’t do it, the motors themselves might be worn, but this should wake them up! Let us know how it turns out.
