Can anyone tell me what the ball like canister behind front bumper passenger side 2001 XJ is?

I believe that vacuum ball is used for cruise control and something else. Can't remember what.

Heating/cooling controls. And maybe cruise.

Mine had more than enough slack to relocate it to the pass side firewall, out of harms way.

Actually, the Vacuum Reservoir is called a "Reservoir, Speed Control". It shows up in the parts catalog under the Speed Control Section. It is not associated with the HVAC system.

The Heater and AC Vacuum Harness only feeds the reservoir.
