Default BFG A/T vs. Firestone Destination A/T

I'm going to need new tires soon. 2000 Jeep Cherokee, used a commuter vehicle to college everyday. This Jeep sees snow, ice, and rain as well as dirt roads and nasty potholes.

I've run the BFG A/T in the past on a previous jeep but they had like 40% tread left and seemed a little squirrely on wet roads. The firestones get great reviews and are cheaper, but Firestone seems to have had a rough past. They even had a recall in 2009 on the same firestone destination a/t in the 265/75/16 size. Anyone have input? I'd be willing to spend the $50 more a tire on the BFGs if they are a better tire. I've done a lot of research and it seems everyone has a conflicting story so I figured it would help to ask people who own the same vehicle.

Used both, OLD BFG's were great, the new KM2's are horrible in rain/mud...basically anything but dry road. I had the Destinations, they were great tires in rain/snow/etc, but werent beef enough so I wet back to mastercrafts.

The firestones are rated as the best AT tire right now.

I loved my Destination A/Ts. I have never had the BFG A/Ts so I cannot compare them.

Why do you say the KM2s are bad in mud?

I was more or less using it as a series cause BFG changes the tires every couple of years, not necessarily the MT's. The BFG ATs swastika design holds mud.

Oh. I was thinking BFG MT KM2 which I have on my Power Wagon and don't particularly like. I didn't know they were all called KM2.

They arent, but no one knows what to call them so whenever I hear someone talk about them they are the "AT KM2's"

Fully recommend the firestones

I have the M/T version and they're incredible even down to the last 2/32", which took over 50,000 miles to do my last set

I have 225/75/15 Firestone Destination A/T's. I think the size is perfect for an unlifted, stock Jeep. Some folks go up to the 235's, but I think they look funny on a stock Cherokee (just my opinion, don't shoot me folks ).

Out here in Colorado I have never had a problem with them in the snow. Another good point about them is that tread life is good and there are tons of Firestone Auto Care centers that will rotate your tires and handle your warranty.

Bottom line: I love mine.

Best of luck with whatever you choose.

Dont waste your time with the BFG's or Firestones. Go with General Grabber AT2's! Much cheaper and well worth the time and effort!

You do realize the difference between them is marginal and can hardly be seen.

Exactly what's "wrong" with Firestones?
