Default better sound from the soundbar?

i know this topic has been covered, ive searched the interweb and tried a few things with little improvement, so i want to get other opinions on a better setup.

i have the stock soundbar in my 96, replaced the speakers with 6.5" pioneers from advance, as well as adding 2 more jvc 6.5" on the bar with some modification. i have no headliner so it sits against the bare steel roof. all 4 speakers are 30w rms at 4ohms. i have a powerbass 2ch amp that puts out 50w per channel at 4ohms. i have 2 speakers connected to each channel on the amp. wired series-parallel so i could maintain the 4ohms. i figure this would give me 25w per speaker.
its plays pretty loud but still flat, im trying to get some more low end. my sub died so i eliminated the box, i like having the extra space inside. i dont need to blow my ears off with bass, but just some to increase quality.
i have jvc 6x9s in the front kick panels, which are too big to secure the kick panels, so im putting a new pair of 6.5s in there.

would it be better to wire them parallel to run at 2ohms? my amp will do 100w per channel at that resistance. will too much power kill the speakers?

ive also heard of poly fill. ill prob pick up some pillow stuffing to see if that helps, since its almost the same thing. anything else i can do for better low end?

sound bar doesnt look pretty yet, still working on it.

Using better speakers would help, and you shouldn't have cut it up and added two more, you're already low on air volume stock. Without a headliner or anything your reflecting onto metal... So it's gonna be crap regardless.

what is i drop the entire bar down about an inch and close off the top?more volume, plus i would use wood to seal it on top, so is that better than bouncing off metal?

I don't think it'll take the weight... The better insulated your whole jeep is, the more bass you'll get.

Adding more power to the setup you have will only give you a bit more volume, not a real increase in the low end. Not sure if they would be able to handle that much power at a lower impedance. You'd need to check the specs.

im not concerned with weight, i have additional support for mounting it. maybe ill leave the wiring and try sealing it better.

How important is your cargo area/back seat to you?

I took out my back bench and put down the backrest and put two 6x9s and a 10" sub on the backrest with an amp driving the sub (all facing towards the rear). For about $300 total it sounds pretty great, the bass reflects off the back glass and being closer to the driver seat gives good vibration as well.

The biggest problem you've got is all that exposed sheet metal. Mid to high frequencies will reflect off of that in various directions. The result being artificial enhancement of some frequencies, and others cancelling each other out. That's why even though you changed to better speakers, you didn't get much of an improvement in sound. There's a reason most speakers, regardless of price, have boxes made out of wood.

You're going to need to get a headliner back in there, or at least Rhino line the roof for overall sound quality improvement.

For the low end, how about something like this:

You can check out my thread for more specifics on how I did this.

For the low end, how about something like this:

This is what i did, But I used a 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch series sub-woofer. And two 6x9's Rockford Fosgate full range 3-way in the rear hatch. Where the 5.25 factory speakers originally where. There is very little headroom or cargo space in an XJ. And I didn't want to give up any just for speakers.

I would just throw a box in the back if I had a back. I did a chop top and my gas tank now sits in the cargo area. I like having back seats too, one reason I bought a cherokee over a wrangler. Four doors, more ******.
I might end up making a whole new box from nice cabinet quality wood, its a jeep so I won't splurge on MDF.
