But yeah, use whatever viscosity is recommended for your region and driving habit. I use 5w30 conventional in all my vehicles. I have this conversation at least once a day with customers, not doing it long hand and I'm sure I'd just be repeating what these fine folks have already said.

I run Amsoil AMO (10w-40 with added zddp). If it gets cold enough, go for a 5w or 0w. Otherwise grab what you want. Of what is mostly available locally to most places. Pennzoil Platinum/Ultra full syn, Castrol Edge, Valvoline Synpower.
Interesingly enough, when I run 40 weight my heep doesn't leak as much. I know my RMS leaks, and now so does my OFA. will fix those soon.

If you like 5w30, use it. If it's 10w40, use it. If it's full synthetic use it!
I use whatever I feel like buying at that particular time...so far it has worked for the past 25 years... :0

Zinc helps reduce metal to metal wear. Used to be in most oils but was removed in gasoline engine oils around '06 I believe for emissions reasons. It's important in the 4.0 because we have a flat tappet cam which is a major wear area. Diesel oils still have zinc. Plus more detergents to keep it all clean.
