Best "tasteful" modifications suggestions?
Fashion as in I want it to look good and function well. Guess I should have used "look good" so people would understand but I guess that's a crime.
Apparently you're not supposed to have a jeep if you're busy and don't want to install your sliders or if you want it to look good.

Fact of the matter is, there's nothing that is actually true that you could say to bother me, go ahead crack jokes about my jeep and how I said fashion and function, go ahead crack jokes like I'm soft and we can compare battle scars because you clearly have no clue who I am, crack whatever you want... Maybe I'll even assume you're defensive because you're a little jelous of my jeep even.
Whatever it is go ahead pop off. I always love a good etough guy. Guys that read a line or two of someones post and reply with something oh so hard as if they themselves are just so mean and bad a&&!

Hey c'mon people....
First off it's his RIGHT to do whatever he wants to his Jeep.
Second, he is asking for input, not to be hammered on.
Third if he has the $$ to do it and it's what he wants...what diffrence does it make to any of us? He wants it to look good, so be it, will it every get used hard....it's his call not ours.
Hey I'll admit, I want my XJ to 'Look Good' and I do plan on taking it mudding, maybe not enough to justify the Mods I want to do, but hey...it's MY XJ and I'll do what I want. Same goes for 11Past9.
I would hope that if I asked a question no a product, be it for a looks or a purpose, you all would reply with input and NOT slams/hammering/or insults. With that said, 11Past9, do what ever you want and like. If you got the time and $$ all the luck in the world to ya! Go FOR IT!
Oh and I found this on another topic....same thing applies here. (Hope ya don't mind Hommer)

I just made mine Mall Certified today...
IRO- Long Arm Kit
IRO- Double Shear Track Bar
IRO- Rock Sliders
IRO- OTK Steering Upgrade
IRO- 5.5 Berlin/Military wrap Leafs
IRO- 6.5 Coils
IRO- Sticker in window...
And it won't see any rocks, mud, trees, or water, ever... Just doing it for looks.
Only running 32's so I couldn't possibly get through obstacles that guys with 35's do...
As a bonus this is my first post, Hi everyone!
I say buy and add whatever you see fit for your Jeep, I never once asked someone if this certain part was "cool" enough to put on or buy.
Do what makes you happy and tell these interweb douches where to stick it.

Wow... this is turning into pirate4x4...
I guess if you just want it to look good we would need to know what "good" was. I like the way mine looks, but most people probably wouldn't...

Personally, I really like the look of the cut rear end, plus it's super functional.

33" tires and 4~5 inches of lift and CHOPPED fenders...

I like it.
If you are going to to ANY wheeling though, I'd suggest that the very first thing you buy is a good tow strap, followed by a farm jack/handyman jack and learn how you can use it for self recovery. I'd also buy a shovel.
I keep my jack and shovel in the back behind the 2 12" subs in their box that takes up ALL of my cargo room.
so I'd say for looks:
1. bigger tires
2. cut fenders
3. bigger lift (no more than maybe 5 inches)
4. new bumper, but I like smaller ones that help with approach angle... like this
For function:
1. tow strap
2. tow hooks
3. hi-lift jack, or farm jack, or handyman jack, whatever you want to call it.
4. rear diff lock. Aussies are great and cheap!
5. if you've got the cash, a selectable front locker.
6. tires, lift, axles, armor etc....
but that's just MY opinion.

I have a rola roof rack and so far I really like it. I've straped a 60lb 12ft kayak to it and drove down the highway and it did great. Here's the link http://www.rolaproducts.com/shop/det...59504&cat=2025

Snorkel... in my opinion totally worth the money. I'd rather drop a a couple hundred than a couple grand after hydrolocking an engine. Not to mention your getting colder outside air which will help with fuel mileage, i figure over the ten years i'v been running mine it's paid for itself.
Roofrack, ran one for 15 years... recently sold it. It's carried everything from camp gear to kayak's. I only sold it because i plan to design and offer my own creation soon. I had a Garvin Industries rack and it even survived a rollover where it was under the Jeep.
Lights.. good ones are expensive and will hold up to the elements. Your looking at brands like Piaa, Hella and a few others. Check out Daniel Sterns website for quality info on what to look for in lights.. any lights.
The JCR bumper you posted about in another thread should be everything you want from a bumper, his stuff is highly praised and from what i see he stands behind his work. You could opt out of the lights he provides for another set mounted atop the bumper.
If you find a design you like on a particular item simply google it.. this will provide feedback.
I see your a student at Penn State.. drop a PM here to Endless Mountain Fab https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...ssmtnfab-6899/ . He's a vendor, a few miles down I-80 just before NJ and one hell of a talented man. He can source your parts and install it correctly.

11past,
To answer your earlier question, bump stopping is what is used to keep you from bottoming out your suspension. Bumpstops are front and rear. On the front they sit between the springs and are sometimes called "snubbers" and on the rear they are above the axle mounted to the rails. The purpose of bump stopping is to eliminate or minimize the full compression of your shocks/springs/suspension. In other words when you stuff a tire you don't want to relie solely on your shocks (fully compressed), nor do you want your your fenders stopping the up travel of your tire(s) and shredding it/them. Or worse yet you don't want your leafs to do this for you by inverting.
IMO any good lift will usually involve correct bumpstopping in order to prevent these things from happening. There are times when some do not bumpstop and this may be fine for their particular application/rig. The only way to determine if you have sufficient bumpstopping is going to involve stuffing the tires and looking for any contact between the tire(s) and fenders or corner guards, shock compression, leaf geometry, and the like. A 3" lift with 31s may take maybe 2" or more of bumpstopping in order to prevent the above noted things. Of course if you remove the flares and trim the fenders you may be able to get away with less. Then your shocks and leafs will determine how much you may need.
I have a 3" lift on mine and 31s. Eventhough I have sufficient bumpstopping there was still slight rubbing of the tire(s) on the flares when fully stuffed which required some trimming. Some vehicles have no issues with a 3" lift and 31s, others require more bumpstopping and some trimming.
As far as a rack goes - there are several out there that others have already suggested. Find one you like, in your price range and go for it.
Front bumper - JCR makes a quality product as well as some others. Again, find one you like.
Sliders - Get what you like and install them. If they are weld on type you may have to get a shop to do them for you. If they are the bolt on type, you can do them yourself.
Other suggestions (some previously mentioned)...
Get some recovery points on there. For the rear a class III hitch will be fine and for the front, if a whole bumper is out of the question, get some C4X4 tow hooks. Very good price, very strong, and you can do this yourself.
Get a D ring and recovery strap. Not going to get into it, but don't buy a tow strap. Two different products with two different applications. Buy one with loops on the ends and not metal hooks.
Upgrade the headlight wiring and headlights. Stock stuff leaves a bit to be desired.
You can buy decent lights at Wally World for the rack for around $20 a pair. Sure, cheap plastic housing, but if you modify them they will work just fine. Besides, if you break one it doesn't cost much to replace it. Of course, others have suggested several other higher quality brands. Get what you like and that works for you.
Upgrade your altenator if you plan on running a lot of lights.
Upgrade stock sound system.
Maybe some belly armor...skids and such. Some can be found at the JY for a good price.
You do know that you will keep spending moeny don't you? Once it starts it doesn't stop. Get what you like for your vehicle and have fun with it
