One of the things i did was beadline and then replaced all the carpet floormats with deep dish rubber ones so its easy to clean and put seat covers and brushgrd for them pesky dear that like to jump infront of me
my opinion when people ask for what they should do. Do what you thinkis cool cuz its not like someone on the fourm or some guy at the food cort is going to drive YOUR jeep lol

Since the tire thing hasn't been addressed yet............
I picked up a used set of those 31X10.5 Toyo AT's on Craig's list and we've been running them for a while. Honestly bought them because they were a deal, but turns out they do surprisingly well. They're great in the rocks and my main concern (mud) turned out to be no concern at all. Granted they're no mud tire, but they do way better than i thought they would.
This XJ also has the 3" RC lift.
As a side note, the Toyo AT's also work real well as an inner fender removal tool when not bump stopped properly.

i say get what you want also. your the one driving and paying for it.
this is me, not any idea trying to influence your thoughts.
to me a roof rack is useless because my jeep is not used to haul anything more then my family and some bags to the airport or golf clubs/backpacks/ etc. a roof rack is just a gas mileage dropper to me. if you have to maybe carry your spare tire up there and some fuel cans or tools then yes, its a useful to you.
lights look cool but you can get mini bumper mount ones that will blind every person who looks at them so getting the big KC daylighters is another waste for me.
sliders would be cool but would just be a step for me.
snorkel--- nope, not going in water that deep. if it even look half that deep i am going another way. i live by the ocean so water that deep is not only going to sweep your jeep out to sea, its also going to rust it out in a year.
tires are always nice and look cool. i like tires and well i wouldn't get some overly large ones, i could see some 30s or 31s by bfgoodrich in the at pattern on my cherokee looking perfect.

If you got a lift and decent tires already I say do sliders (believe me even easy trail crusin can go south quick) and a roof rack. seriously your not goin to see a noticiable drop in MPG's (if its fully loaded maybe, but then again thats the point, you simply want to carry stuff) i have a roof rack and i love it. i dont use it everyday, but when its there its great. i agree about room inside the xj i always run out (maybe i have too much gear) those extra bags, or those muddy shoes and wet / dirty/ grime covered things you can toss up there.
and driving lights on the bumper, you can always use. if you drive at night, even open highway to tight trails, those are nice.
IMO
*Sliders (do your rocker panels a favor, i wish i did lol)
*Roof rack (Quadratec has a sweet "top hat" one for like 300)
*driving lights (bumper works fine...but i love rack mount!)
*tow hooks (Rugged ridge up front, and a d-ring hitch mount in the rear.
* exhaust...of course hahabut no cherry bomb stuff s*^t gets annoying going up mountains. a flowmaster 40 rocks
with this you will love it. it will be functional as a DD, and when you do explore (trust me you will, more than you think) you'll love these even more.
My 2 cents.
its your jeep, if you got the cash do it, theres not a single mod i regret on mine (cept for drilling a hole in the roof, which dont leak but still...i dunno what i was thinking)
remember love it, drive it, trail it. and its not truely yours till you drill a hole in it and blow one into the seat. :P

I could understand on buying a snorkel for an older model Jeep (off-road only) but this is a DD and occasional play, a snorkel would be pointless, going in water that deep will just bring all the water and **** all in your XJ......then you'll have to clean it out and u cant get water out of everywhere unless u pull all the carpet up, then you have a nasty mildew smell.....nobody wants that in a 01 XJ......unless its just for wheeling.....not to mention your axles and engine aren't water proof, stuff will start messing up....Water over the headlights = BAD!

The best tastefull mod... is the one that pleases YOU... :} do what ever you want to it.. make it your jeep :} I want a snorkle roof rack and wide fenders... IF gf catches me in deap water.. im in deap chit... but they look so so so kewl :}
Roof rack? Have you ever tried to fit much in an XJ? Yeah, how about three large loads of laundry and a few bags in the back seat and thats if youre not taking anyone...
THIS
Roof lights? Ok maybe you have a case..
NAH
Sliders? Good idea considering all it takes is a bad incline to CRUNCH rockers at an angle

for a mild play rig/ DD? LOL! nah.
better ways to spend your money.
Get a LS or a locker for the rear. for the same $$$
Maybe an external tire carrier?
Ok so what is bump stopping?
The jeep has 31x10.5 15s and a 3 in rc lift... Am I going to have problems?
-roof rack: I don't want a top hat, but I need something that has a spare mount and good quality without drilling. Brand, model and pricing suggestions?
-best front bumper? Conservatively mean, no winch, light mounts and recovery hooks?
-who installs sliders? Found some I want
-grill inserts? Which ones and do they look tacky?

Just remember with any lighting accessories you use, you must abide by local/state statutes for use. Rack lights in some states are required to have covers while on road at all times. My Jeep is my DD and will be off road in fields when I hunt, I don't plan on doing any serious hard core off roading; so what I'm going to do is just replace the leaf springs with HD springs, replace the shocks and get beefy tires. I won't hijack your thread though, so enough of that. Do what YOU want to do to YOUR Jeep. You are the one driving it and you are not doing this (I hope) to impress other people.
