Default Best place online to buy a tune up kit?

Hey guys,

New to the jeep world and was wondering if anyone could suggest some online stores that would have a tune up kit for my 2001 XJ? (plugs, wires, fuel/air filter, oil filter, ignition cap and rotor, etc...)

Also, as a new XJ owner what are some of the very first things I should look over my Jeep for maintenance wise? (Specific suspension components, common drive train issues, etc...)

Bought a:

2001 XJ
4.0L 4x4
300K miles

Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to being a part of this community!

Ture, I was just checking because it's been my experience with other cars I've rebuilt that often online prices are much better even after shipping.

That's my only reason for asking... But if Autozone is the way to go that's cool too!

Basic stuff is gonna be the same price. Napa, advance, auto zone...all will be real close.

You probably won't be needing the cap, rotor, and wires. Your 2001 XJ doesn't have them.

That should save you some money.

Ha, I haven't looked at the engine since I bought the car. Like I said, first jeep. I didn't know if it had coil packs, spark plug wires, or what.... Thanks though

Drain, flush and replace your coolant. Check all cooling system hoses and if they look old replace them while it's empty.
You have the 2001 and you DON"T want it to overheat!
They are notorious for cracking heads between 3 and 4.

Just google "the 0331 club" (Seriously, hop on a tab and google it now) and you'll see why it is vital that your cooling system be in good shape.

Yeah, in fact, check your head for cracks! Especially with THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND MILES IN TEN YEARS... Good Lord, somebody drove A LOT.

4wd.com is a good place to look. I got a tune up kit there. Granted it was not a 2001 XJ.

Besides the tune up change all your oils/lubricants, filters, and coolant. Look at the brake fluid and power steering fluid. Might be a good idea to change those also. How are the brake pads?

Start an excel spreadsheet. Three excellent sheets to have are fuel purchases, all other purchases, and maintenance performed.

Be sure to check the gear oil levels in your differentials.
