"Runs like crap" isn't very descriptive. What trouble are you having?

Wish there were some here, when I was in Montana I used to put ethanol free gas in, ran much better and gave me about an extra 30 miles per tank.

You are super lucky. I don't think there are any stations in the denver area that sell ethanol free, I've searched.

I have found absolutely no difference in performance or mileage between many different gasoline brands up this way.

Here is more on "oxygenated fuel" ie: the 10% ethanol blend that is available (and mandated) widely...
------------------------------------------------------------------

Ethanol contains less energy than gasoline, so ethanol blends get fewer miles to the gallon.

Ethanol advocates contend the drop is 2 percent or less for E10, but large scale studies don’t prove that to be true.

An Iowa State University Professor, after reviewing independent studies using fleet vehicles, estimates that E10 delivers 96.4 percent of the miles per gallon of gasoline, a drop of 3.6 percent.

3-4% reduction in gas mileage in the 4.0 is accurate from what I have researched (and experienced).

If only we had that here... I hate the smell of the stuff. I hate the performance of the stuff. I hate how gas prices have continuously gone up even though corn is some of the cheapest stuff out there.

I just hate ethanol.

On the topic at hand... I pretty much only use Shell simply because there is a station less than a mile from my house that I have to pass every single day regardless of where I go. However, I think I would rather use something like QT because they go through SO much fuel so quickly that it somewhat prevents the fuel from sitting still at any time to build up that layer of sediment in the tanks.

I think reducing our usage of oil by -+10% is pretty good for reducing our dependance or usage of oil. And less usage and less demand equates to lower prices at the pump?

E10 is the most common blend in the US. Meaning it's 10% ethanol. If it decreases your mpg by 10% it's pointless.
