Default Best Engine Year for a 91’?

Contemplating a reman engine & a Novak Ax15 transmission for my 91’.

Based in some research it looks like a 98’ is a good year engine.

If I am swapping both engine and AX15 on my 91’... what would I have to consider for the swap?

96’ dana 30 front, 88’ dana 44 in the rear. Currently has an AX15.

As for the engine. Found Fraser out of MI. $1,878 for a full five year, no fault 5 year unlimited mile warranty. I called ATK. And will call Jasper too.

Any recommendations there?

Yes, but they started using a Girdle in 96, that strengthens the bottom end.

No, it doesn't strengthen anything. 4.0s never had an issue there.

It was put there solely to reduce NVH. Noise, Vibration, Harshness.

Girdles do strengthen the bottom end, a 4.0 may not have an issue with out one, but there is a reason performance engine builder's use them.

But doesn't apply here. Maybe on a Chevy small block forum...........

OP doesn't need to be sent on a wild goose chase for nothing,
especially stuff that applies to Chevies and Fords.

Thanks for the info. Looks like from reading that the 91’ - 95’ were the best engines. Just going for another 91’ I think.
