Default Best Crank Position sensor?

Okay so I've decided my issues on my 93 sport are directly related to my CPS. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience purchasing after-market ones? I want everyone's opinions! I don't want to contact the Jeep dealership unless it's a last resort. They are real there!

I've been running one for almost a year now that I bought at Advance Auto... no problems so far

When I had to replace the CPS onone of my XJs the consensus was to go with OEM so that is what I did.

I was told to go with OEM too but didn't have the time or money it would take for the dealer to get it (a week and $150 the guy says). So I ordered one produced by Standard Engine Products from RockAuto. Ive been running this one for a little over two thousand miles now in the 95+ Florida heat and I have had no problems whatsoever.

I buy plenty of aftermarket parts.

The crank sensor is one of the items that I purchase from Jeep. It IS worth the extra money.

Search this forum and the other XJ forums for "crank sensor" and you'll see confirmation of why this is true.

You just cannot beat the reliability of the Jeep crank sensor.

My experience with the aftermarket CPS products is that some of them don't play well with an Mopar Camshaft Position sensor; if you are going to replace either one of them, I'd suggest you replace both with an aftermarket one.

Just go get it from the dealership. For once they had a great price, I got mine from the dealer for 81 where napa wanted 80-99.

Knock on wood I've still got mine with no issues. Only time I had it out was for clutch work.
On my 89 renix I had issues with autozone duracrap one.
Finally spent a extra ten bucks at the dealer granted they had to order it but no issues since then.

x2 on this.

Every time I have replaced a sensor with aftermarket I got burnt ... my ZJ, my XJ, my Dodge. I have finally made the decision never to buy another aftermarket sensor. They cost less, but in the long run cost me too much. OE all the way.

could you guys tell me some symptoms of a CPS going bad Crank or Cam.
My jeep fires over, run for a sec' and dies, and I keep reapeating this same process, and sometimes it wont even restart again.
ANY IDEAS?? iTS DRIVING ME NUTS. 89 RENIX. iTS GETING FUEL, SPARK, iNJECTORS ARE FIRINGS, oCASINONALY I THINK LOL.
i CHECKED ALL THE FUSABLE LINKS, AND there all good. Maybe its that realay that the battery cable runs to that send power to all the other goodies, it about 6" from the + TERMINAL., I Also have a bad alternator, would that have anything to do with it starting and stalling?even with a strond battery charger jumper attatched to the terminals? Cuz I had it run before with the bad alternator.

If it's the CPS you shouldn't get any spark. That's just my 2 cents though.

Im new and forgot how to post my own thread....sorry
but i think im having a problem with my crankshaft or camshaft position censor, i rebuilt my 96 cherokee about 6 months ago and over a 15 month time frame. We replaced the camshaft and crankshaft position censor and from what ive read these things go bad and give the cherokees problems like crazy. I only have 938 miles on the new motor and the other day my jeep was having problems starting but once i did get her started i drove it about 2 miles roundtrip, then a couple hours later i had trouble starting it and once i did get it started it died on me about 1 mile down the road. Later me and my buddy tried fixing it and found a bent out of place breaker in the cab that was burnt on one side...we straightened it up and cleaned it, tested the car again, she fired rite up 2 consecutive times, went to bed and got up in the morning to the same problem, she wouldnt start.
ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
