Thanks guys I had a red top in my previous Cherokee that I ran 4 kc's and about a 1800 watt system in and was always leaving the lights and stereo running while we hung out in the woods while I was in college. When I sold the xj I pulled the battery and put it in my dads bass boat as the main starting battery / 3rd trolling motor(only when the extra power was needed) battery. I bought the battery in the fall of 02 and it just gave up about 2 months ago. That was a long hard life between my xj for about 2 years and the boat the rest my dad and I were both impressed. I'd buy a brand new one today but I just don't have that kind of cash to blow right now.

Nice, if you do end up with an optima, you could run the interstate as a secondary for accessories on a isolator.

Sounds like a great idea but I would have no idea how to hook this up? Sure I could find a write up and figure it out but were would I put the battery I wouldn't want it inside the cab. Maybe the interstate under the hood and the optima in the cab since it's sealed and all??

That would work. They do make universal sealed marine battery boxes you could put in the rear hatch. You'd also need a battery isolator or battery relay. Basically this cuts your starting battery out of the system unless the vehicle is running. But charges both when it is running. So a deep cycle would be best for the accesory battery. You'd also need a bunch of wire, personally I wouldn't go smaller than 4 gauge. It's really not that tough of a job. And while youre at it you could beef up your ground and charging wires under the hood. I've got 0 gauge from alt to positive term. 4 gauge from positive term to under hood fuse/relay box, 0 gauge from neg term to frame and to engine block. Best bang for your buck electrical upgrade... Next to the diy headlight harness upgrade.

I have a factory blemish from interstate. Had a scratch across the top so they sold it to me for $35. Its coming up on 7 years and still strong.
