Default Best battery value?

Ok the battery in my 99 xj bit the dust today when I test it with my multimeter it has 1.9 volts. My question is who sells the best battery for the price I don't want to spent 150-200 on an optima or odyssey right now but I don't want a $25 walmart cheap pos either. So who has the better battery, O'Reilly, Autozone, batteries plus, walmarts better battery, or who? I can skate by till tomorrow morning without one but will need to pick one up first thing. I'm sorry if this has been discussed but I did a quick search with no result and don't have time to wade through a bunch of battery posts.

I run an optima and love it, but I put an interstate megatron 2 in my dads 99 xj 3 or 4 years ago and it's running strong still.

O'Reilly Super Start pretty good IMO.

Stay away from Auto Zone and Walmart if you want your Jeep to start reliably.

I work for Batteries Plus, so I'll stand by that. ;] Shoot me a PM with any questions on prices or anything like that.

The Interstate battery place here sales refurbished batteries. You can buy optimas from them for $40.

As we talking about this, How are the "red tops" or "yellow tops"

Yellow tops are deep cycle. Good for winches, sub, etc. Red tops are purely starting power. They do have some reserve capacity, but definitely not that of the yellow top.

I have a red top rated at 90 min rc. Have had my lights running stereo booming with engine off and she always cranks up. I've ran it dry a couple times and it always bounces back. It manages the semi cold winters here in nw pa with no issues as well. I like the zero maintenance aspect as well. If I wasnt running an optima (in it's second xj) id run an interstate. Just personal preference. I used to work at a high end independent car audio place, we sold batteries. Optimas, interstate, stinger, braille audio.... And other brands. Interstate is a good bang for your buck battery. Last forever. But these guys have mentioned other good brands as well. I've had die hard and been happy with it's performance. You'd probably be alright with any of the batteries mentioned here.

Called my local interstate guy and he said he does occasionally get in the refurbed optimas but doesn't currently have any. Oh well he has a refurbed interstate for 40 including tax when the wife gets home I'll just go get one of them and talk to him about calling me whenever he gets an optima. Thanks guys I had a red top in my previous Cherokee that I ran 4 kc's and about a 1800 watt system in and was always leaving the lights and stereo running while we hung out in the woods while I was in college. When I sold the xj I pulled the battery and put it in my dads bass boat as the main starting battery / 3rd trolling motor(only when the extra power was needed) battery. I bought the battery in the fall of 02 and it just gave up about 2 months ago. That was a long hard life between my xj for about 2 years and the boat the rest my dad and I were both impressed. I'd buy a brand new one today but I just don't have that kind of cash to blow right now.
