Default bendix 9 swap

so i am about to swap my brakes to vacuum. the thing i want to know is when is the pressure in the system gone? i have not had any assistance since i got the jeep so i am assuming the system has failed. does this mean the pressure is out? or should i pump the brakes to relieve the pressure?

Before you spend any money on parts, you should look into the 702 recall at the dealer. To discharge the accumulator, pump the brake pedal about 25 times with the key off.

i looked into that. I heard alot of people saying that they have had 2 and 3 systems replaced and they have all failed. i know it is free but if it is that bad of a system why bother? thank you for the answer though. How will i know when the accumulator is discharged? i would assume its when the pedal is rock hard but my pedal has been rock hard since i got this jeep a year ago

A rock hard pedal is the sign of the accumulator being discharged. The Bendix 9 system was a pile of crap from the very start, every vehicle that had that system had recalls and issues. The swap is a good idea and not too hard to do if you find a nice doner vehicle for the booster and hard lines, always use a new master cylinder and prop valve if you can find one.

Ok got my bendix system out my question is will i need to modify anything? Im going to use the booster out of a 93 so will it be bolt in? My big worry is the rear brake lights the rod that attatches to the pedal is slightly different
