Default Belt install

While back I had a complete power steering pump break down so I install everything fine but I had a really hard time getting the belt on. Is there an easier way? A special tool or is it just you have to know what you're doing ?

you just loosen the two bolts on the power steering pump to adjust the belt, once it's on you just snug up the pump and tighten the bolts. I think that's right anyway, been a couple of years.

I had to replace mine for inspection, there are three bolts. Two that hold the pump that you back off a little and then a bolt underneath the pump is the tensioner. Let off tension and it pops right off then do the opposite on the install. I did break the tensioner bolt off and had to scramble to home depot for a replacement that Sunday evening. Some say it is easier to remove the air filter housing to get to the tensioning bolt.

^ you guys are describing the correct procedure for 1995 and earlier models. The adjuster bolt on steering pump should be turned in a ways to easily get a new belt on.
On 1997 and later there is an idler pulley with an adjustment bolt. Much easier.
Should be a diagram on fan shroud for belt routing
