I've done bumpers and long arm kits in this stuff and the best result is to use a self etching primer first, spray on bedliner second, and use whatever type of spray paint color you wish over it. Keeps it from fading and way easier to clean. And very durable!

Is the texture in the roll on kind mainly just small rubber *****?? I like the look but the texture is causing me to hesitate... Wonder if you could strain it a few times before application to remove the larger pieces of texture giving it a smoother feel??

To describe the texture of this paint.... I'd say it feels like sandpaper. If you spray black spray paint over a sheet of sandpaper and let it dry, that's pretty close to the durablility of this paint. I love it, and it's definitely worth the money.

I sprayed my stock rear bumper with this stuff, and it looks GREAT. I've had two or three people ask me where I got the bumpers from because they look so sharp. I also used this stuff for the bottoms of my doors and rocker panels. As for the fading issue, it does fade, but a real light touch up coat makes it look BRAND NEW. Every time I go to a local car meet I take 5 minutes and touch up all the paint... It's super simple and makes a huge impact.

Maybe a little off topic, but I Linex'd the tins on a rigid frame bike I built.

The stuff is almost indestructable, resistant to gas, scratches and pretty much whatever else you could throw at it....I mean literally throw at it!

This thread now has me thinking my XJ would look great Linex'd sitting next to the bike.......

I've heard that you can even get it in different colors these days......

well. that was part of the problem, I didn't take off any bolts...I just popped the things off..so now I see that I have to loosen the bolts to allow the clips enough room for the plastic fenders to fit back on...

PITA....

Thanks

keep in mind that you can rattle can any color over the bed liner, you dont just have to keep it black! I am contemplating bumble bee yellow if I ever finish the bed liner first!

This stuff also works GREAT on interior pieces. Just keep in mind it's hard as hell to clean. I used it on all the ceiling molding pieces in my Xj. So happy to get rid of that tan interior... piece by piece.

Just stopped my wal-mart and picked up 2 spray cans of the rust-oleum bed coating. I took a 2x2 piece of sheetrock and sprayed it for a sample and it's much smoother than I expected Think I'm going to like this! Also picked up a couple of cans of Krylon Satin "Moss Musgo" (Close to army green) Outdoor spaces paint. It's supposed to be fade and weather proof.... I think i'm going to spray the entire truck with the bedliner and then topcoat the rockers, bumpers, and flares with satin black and the top with the satin green Now I just got to wait for it to warm up enough to spray.

I'm giving the sample board an hour or so to dry and then taping off a line and top coating half of it with the green... I'll post a pic a little later showing the results and I'll try to get a good shot showing the texture as well.
