Default Bedliner'd rear bumper - Top only.

So I picked up a 00 XJ on Sat. and the rear bumper was beat so I decided to take care of that. I used 180 Grit sand paper and masked off what I didnt want to paint and gave it about 6 total light/medium coats. I will have some better pics once it cures and the light is out. lemme know what you guys think and if you have any questions just ask. - Yes I know Natural ice is **** beer but it was 30 pack for 13 and got the job done

Pics!

Looks good but why only the top? Makes no difference to me or anything she's your rig and everything just wondering.

Well I figured that I would do the top only to make it look more OEM and like a factory installed option. If the top starts to chip away and needs repairs I will probably end up doing the entire bumper. The duplicolor stuff goes on so good but based on everyones reviews it lacks in the quality department. I couldnt justify the herculiner becuase its so agressive constitancy wise.

Ya, I see other guys going with the herculiner and that **** will rip your kneecaps off trying to load something in there. Im looking to keep skin intact if i ever have to crawl up in there.

Hey, your not stealing my idea. Im sure it has already been done before but I had never seen it. I put the end caps back on today and I love the look. It just flows so good. If you do end up doing it make sure to post some pics!

natty ice isnt bad... as long as youve had a couple before you start drinking it. But i mean you can drink anything after you've had enough in you

Gotta agree with everyone on the natty ice.lol

I really like the bumper look. I saw someone on the road who had done the same thing to his step rails. I going to have to try the same thing. My bumpers are chrome though. I think that stuff will sand off as it seems to be chipping anyway. Has anyone tried to topcoat chrome?

I would say to make sure you mask off the line you want to use with a few layers of tape and get one of those sanding wheels with the wire brushes that are fairly rigid. Blast off the chrome as good as you can and then hit it with some 180grit sand paper to smooth/finish it up. I used a big rag and a ton of alchohol to get it all wiped off as far as the left over debris.
