Alright I'm going to be bed lining the interior of my xj next week. I have a few questions and I have searched thru many threads and not found the answers. If you could please give our experience or opinions that would be great, thanks!
1) what is the absolutely best way to prep? Wire wheel, self etching primer, etc,..
2) what is the difference between Herculiner and rattle can Bedliner?
3) would it be ok to do two coats of Herculiner and then use rattle can to add more thickness/texture?
4) best way to make a heat shield for the exhaust pipe that is underneath the passenger side?
I was thinking tin from home depot and some how attaching it to the pipe?
Again any and all opinions are very much welcomed. I only want to do this once!

a wire wheel so clean everything up to fresh metal is a good idea for prep.... from the jobs i've seen done, as long as its clean it'll stick....
dont bother with the can bedliner thats basically for over-time touch ups, i've used it in my wheel wells as a "winter-izer" but by the time winter is over, most of its already gone. 2 coats of herc. should do the job

i havent personaly used it but i read alot about it cuz im gonna do mine soon. I think i remember it is a 2 part mixture instead of having ground up rubber in it and the roller is what actualy gives the texture to it not the rubber pieces so i think it would be thinker. you can also get it in different colors.when i do mine i think thats what im gonna use.

Monstaliner is a 2 part coating.
Would this stuff be good for the underbody?
My rocker panels are solid as new since it had running boards since new. The drivers side floor looks like it needs some coating, but isn't rusted through. The passenger side floors still have most of the original coating. If this stuff would be good on the underside, I might just do it.
