Default Battery trouble

Hi I'm a new xj member who is having some battery trouble and was wondering if any of you guys know what I'm doing wrong. So my battery died yesterday so I go my neighbors triple charge hooked it up and there sound like there's a fan under the steering wheel that's loud. The triple charge wouldn't work because it was on. Does any one know what that noise is?

Clean your battery terminals to bright metal. That will cure 90% of "battery" problems.

how old is the battery?
charge it out of the jeep
whatever the noise you heard was, it was probably what drained the battery
