I am picking up a 1994 2dr on Sunday. I know it has a 58 series battery in it. which is stock. My question is, can a battery tray from a newer XJ with a 34 series be bolted into the 94? My 1998 XJ has a 4 year old battery which I am switching out, because my son is taking it to college. I just wonder if I can go to the junk yard, and pickup a newer tray that will allow that battery to bolt in.

 

I think the newer one should bolt in it.

 

I'm not sure either but a definite maybe, just be sure you can return it.

It bolts right in. The tray on my 95 (size 58) was cracked and I replaced it with one from a 99 (size 34), bolted right in no issues. The size 34 tray is a little wider, but the bolt holes are all in the same location.
