Default Battery Hold Down Hardware

I've got a battery hold down bracket coming today. Does anyone know the hardware size that's needed. All I've got in my Jeep is a battery tray that's bolted down and a t-bolt on each side of the battery tray. Am I missing just the nuts? If so, idea what size they are? Maybe an M6? Any help is appreciated

Mine are 1/2 " standard thread flare nuts on my 96 hold down. I added a washer, but in hindsight I don't think its needed.

The Mopar part # for the nuts is #3420 1918. A quick search only showed it referenced in the 91-96 Jeep XJ's but didn't see any other specs or availability.

I thought they were M8.

I'd add a washer, you can almost wind those nuts down through the hoops at the end of the tie down.

I doubt the hardware was one of the things that changed in '97; certainly my '98 is the same as the '96, which is actually on the '99, which came with just a flat piece of metal strung between the 2 T-bolts.

The 87-90 are #3420 1317. Doesn't spec them out but a search on the pn shows 8x1.25.

The 97-99 parts guide calls out 8x1.25

I was able to run by the hardware store last night. The correct size for my '96 was an M8. We are all set now.

& it's safe to assume that '91-95 are the same (OP has now confirmed his '96 is, just as mine was.)
