I did a lift on mine using Dodge Dakota leaf springs (same as S-10 springs), and Grand Cherokee coils. It was easy to do, and netted me 3.5" of lift. I get great flex, and have had the lift on for over 2 years, with no problems. IMO, bastard packs are the way to go!

What year springs did you get off the dakota and were the Grand Cherokee springs from a V-8 and also what year? Any thing else you think would be good to know would be greatly appreciated. Also, what shocks did you get?

Thanks for the help.

If I remember correctly, the Dakota springs came from an '88. The Grand Cherokee was from a V8, '96 I think. You're going to need a longer rear brake hose, for sure. Get one from a late 80s-early 90s from a NAPA or somewhere similar, as it's a direct bolt-on and is ~3" longer than a stock XJ's line (not to mention a lot cheaper than any other solution). I used Rough Country Nitro 9000 shocks, and have been rather happy with the way they've performed.
If you have any other questions, hit me up, and happy wheelin'!

I re-used the top leaf of the original XJ pack, and every leaf (save for the big 'ole "helper" spring at the bottom) from the Dakota.

Let me know when you get your parts together. Me and a couple buddies would love to open up the shop and lift to ya and help you put it together. The shop is near cleveland. And trust me this shop as any tool you could imagine.

WOW!!

That sounds great. I would love the help and the use of a real shop and lift.
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. It may be closer to summer before I have everything together and the time, (full time school and full time work) but if the offer still stands in a few months I will def take you up on it.
