ball joints
I drive a 99 xj. I can feel something in the front drivers side area when I go over bumps or a pot hole no matter what size it is. I was told it could be a ball joint. How do I check? And how hard are they to change and what tols would I need?

Get the jeep in the air.
Get a pry bar. (Longer the better.)
Put it between the U-joint on the axle shaft (where it goes into the hub) and the knuckle.
Apply pressure.
If the ball-joints are shot you will see movement within the actual balljoint.
