Default Bad water pump?

I was wondering if a water pump can go bad with the jeep just sitting for ...about a year?

Best to give us more details AND symptoms.

There are a lot of parts that need to work properly in concert to enable you to have an efficient cooling system.

How old is the water pump, radiator, radiator cap, fan clutch, thermostat, coolant, serpentine belt that drives the pump, etc?
