That alternator should fit several dozen Chrysler vehicles, so should have one. OTOH, Juneau is like another planet, still the ferry runs every day so that helps.

Does the salt in the air rust vehicles or did Rusty come from Chicago?

It's the salty air. Up here it is know as a "Juneau body". O'Reilly has my alternator for $125, in stock. Looks like I've got my weekend planned out. If this fixes my electrical problems as well, then that would be an excellent added bonus. My blower motor blows it's fuse as soon as you put it in, and other fuses just blow randomly. When my lights turn on, the whole dash goes out. And don't try to use the cigarette lighter if you're listening to the radio. I think she has the car version of TB.

Don't get your hopes up. I suspect it's Juneau body, not the alternator. I'll bet many of your connectors are corroded. Talk about a weekend project!!!

So replacing the alternator seems like the solution here, but are there any other problems this could be? I would hate to spend the time and money only to und out something else is the issue.

It's 23 years old, you won't have to look very long to find another 100 things wrong with it. Slap an alternator on it and move on.

I would unplug every connector and wire brush them then put electric grease in there so it doesn't happen again... Also I suggest refreshing all your grounds this will make your jeep happier

Easily 100 things. She's a real beater (no heater, though). Just picked up my new alternator, have to wait until tomorrow for the belt.

I have heard that taking it out from the bottom is a good way, but someone recommended I take out the battery and tray to access the alternator easily from above. Any opinions?
