Default Bad/old leaf springs?

Before i start, i did research but could not come up with simple yes or no answers.

Upon looking under my jeep the other day i noticed my leafs sit almost level, But from the outside it doesnt look like it sags (maybe a little, subs and tools in back) Anywho... I picked up a BB and dont want to put it on if i have bad leaf springs. Heres a couple pics, any input would be much appreciated.

Your rear leafs are a little worn but not too bad. Mine were like that and I added the RE 2" BB w/235/75R15s.

They are starting to go and unfortunately sag quickly once they start. I would honestly junk them. Is the bb shackles or aal?

That's what the OEM leafs look like after a few years. Pretty flat. Take a look at the front part of the main spring, when they get worse they'll start a sort of an S-bend just after the front mount. They're OK for a while, but you'll want to replace them (not OEM) at some point.

Consider having them re-arched (a spring shop can do it) or replaced outright.

Throwing in a BB kit with blocks tends to accelerate this sort of thing happening. Using an AAL (Add-A-Leaf) kit tends to give a rougher ride.

If you're going to need additional cargo capacity, I'd go with airbag helpers - you can inflate them when you need the extra support, and deflate them when you don't. This should preserve unladen ride quality - the more help get you from your AAL (stiffer spring/higher rate,) the worse your ride will get. Ever drive on an old corduroy road? Or, imagine driving on a road paved with felled, undressed logs - laid crosswise. Gets old...

Its a shackle lift. Oem spec hd springs with new bushings and hardware is around 300... I'm too cheap for that. Is there a wrong way to "fix" it? Helper springs maybe?

I got my 4.5" springs from rough country shipped to me for like 250. Looks like its time to lift it!

Well I already got a new budget boost for $25 =) so I'm sticking with that. Ride quality doesn't bother me, but like I said I'm too cheap for new leaves. Will helper springs raise it back up? Maybe those Monroe leveling shocks?

You can measure the degree of sag by measuring from center of axle/wheel to the bottom of your fender flares. The measurement for the back with no sag should be right at 17 inches IIRC. I had the monroe coil over shocks on my xj--they are very stiff and will help with sag. But for the price, you'd be better off getting some different springs. I finally settled with new OME light duty springs and sensatrac shocks for an MJ for my (not so) budget boost after seeing how much the shackle lift flattened out my OE springs, even with with the monroe coil over shocks (and i was right at 17 inches with the OE springs and coil over shocks before the lift). The extended shackle lift also threw off the pinion angle quite a bit and I had nasty vibes.

Jeeps can't ever be simple can they? Im starting to miss my old Honda days, where zip-ties fixed everything lol. Well, since I'm in good with the local Yard here I think ill go look around and see if I can't find one with newer leafs, or look at bastard pack possibilities. So, Monroe coil shocks with the 2" shackles won't do it for me? (Im a bit new to this jeep thing) thanks for the help BTW guys =)
