So I have a question. It seems like it would probably work.. But is seems to easy.. Ok, so at work we have a ton of 55 gallon steel barrels. What I'm wondering is if I could cut some pieces out of them just to patch some rust holes.. My jeep is by no means a show truck and will probably never do any heavy off roading, so it doesn't have to be super strong... I just want to patch tho holes so I don't have to look at them. Plus it's free steel if it will work.

I suppose you could but steel drums are made out of some crappy steel.
Plus, you're going to have a hell of a time getting the steel flat enough to use.
I'd spring for a $30 sheet of 16ga large enough to fix your holes in the floor.
Then I'd buy a 12' piece of 2x6 rectangle tube to replace the rockers with.
