bad fuel gauge reading after fuel pump swap
I've just had a fuel pump from a 91 cherokee swapped into my 90 cherokee. It was done at the garage and I don't know the specifics of how/what they did..so bear with me. I delivered the car at 1/2 tank, and on pickup it read 3/4 tank. After driving a bit it now reads a bit over 3/4.
Are the gauge electronics for sure knackered? Without going and pulling it out again everything looks alright, the gauge seems to be orientated the same way in the tank, but maybe I'll have to reseat it to get a good read?

Did they swap whole assembly ? If so they might read backwards from each other. There deff different part number...look them up.....http://www.rockauto.com/

They replaced the entire assembly.
The BOSCH and Walbro OE pumps share the same part numbers, were you looking at the economy options?
The gauge reading changes as I accelerate/turn, so maybe the electronics are in good condition. That just leaves float being bent or the assembly not being orientated properly in the tank opening.
The tank is leaky anyways so I'll know for sure when I drop it to swap in a new tank this weekend.

Just got the old pump back from the shop and the float arm is different between the two models, part numbers be damned.
New tank acquired too, so when I drop I'll either swap the float arm or the float arm/electronics module.

I dropped the tank last night and swapped in a new tank. Took the 91 pump out and swapped the floater module including electronics from the 90 pump onto the 91 pump. Put everything back together and everything seems to work, fuel gauge reads normally again too.
