Default Bad feathering tires

98 cherokee i replaced all steering linkage, new tie rods, new ball joints and wheel bearings, alignment, brand new tires and they are still feathering on the outside edges. Steering wheel shakes a little at 60 mph. Any ideas what else could cause this?

I'd take it back to where they did the alignment and show them. Sounds like they botched, (or forgot) the toe-in adjustment. That will waste your tires right away. Once a shop did that too my Mom. Boy were they surprised when I came in and explained they were responsible for buying her a new pair of tires! (and setting the toe-in) (they did).

There are a few shade-tree methods. An easy one if you have the clearance is to wrap a long string around all four, maybe shim it. I think the spec on my 90 is "zero". Ones I've done, (different method), is 1/8-3/16, in, at the tread. Yea, feathering is what you get when that's off. Let us know! Good luck.

Ask them to rebalance the front tire.

He probably was referring to the steering wheel shaking. Yea, sometimes that will happen worse at a certain speed range, out of balance.

I think its my cheap steel rims because ive noticed they put the weights on improperly every time (stacking the stick on weights on top of eachother)

Use balancing beads instead of weights it works so much better

I have balanced a few with the stick ans the hammer on weight and always had better results with the hammer ons. Are the stick on weights on the back side? or both?
Also you never said what tires you are running and how many miles are on them now.

They're just stock size general grabbers. Stick-on weights on the inside of the wheel only

Well that sucks. At 2000 miles they should still be like new. I think it needs to go back to the alignment shop for a recheck. I have not had good luck with the stick on weights. The hammer on ones did a better job as the are placed differentlly. I would bet that is your wobble at 60 MPH.
